Interview With Robert Lee, Commercial Director at Realistic Games
Realistic Games has been around since 2002, and it shows. The quality of software stems directly from the incredible experience and expertise of the team. CasinosHunter grew interested and asked Robert Lee, Commercial Director at Realistic Games, to tell us more! Check out the full Q&A about Realistic Games below!
About Realistic Games
Realistic Games is a private company that was created back in 2002. The team behind the brand, collectively, has decades of experience in the gambling niche, both offline and online. The company started as a third-party provider making software for other players in the niche, but this role was not enough for a really talented and unique team. So, in addition to making software, they decided to create high-quality games for the best online casinos by famous operators, globally. Their partners include, among others, Bet365, Bet Fred, and SportingBet.
Realistic Games make their products available via a wide range of media. The main license held by the products is by the UK Gambling Commission, which is considered one of the best and most reliable international online gambling licenses in the world. Besides, the games by this company are independently audited RNG software.
As of today, Realistic Games make online casino slots and table games. There are around 80 games in total in the company’s collection, and more are to come because the new releases are held on a regular basis, although the company does not strive to hold a steady tempo; Realistic Games produce new content depending on the demand and trends they see on the market. All players notice the classic traditional designs of the majority of online casino games, but the outstanding feature is unique and exciting mechanics.
CasinosHunter asked Robert Lee, Commercial Director at Realistic Games, to share more details about the games, approaches, and future plans.
Q/A Session With Robert Lee, Commercial Director
Robert Lee is the Commercial Director at Realistic Games. He has almost three decades of experience in the gambling and casino industry. His favourite game is Hot Cross Bunnies.
Hello and thank you for participating in our Q&A! To begin with, can you please tell our readers more about your experience in online gambling nice? And what are your responsibilities in Realistic Games today?
With over three decades of experience in the gaming industry, my previous roles include over 20 years at Gala Bingo and then the Gala Coral Group in their land-based operations.
Following this I moved onto Ladbrokes Online and product management, before becoming Bingo Product Manager at supplier IGT.
My current role of Commercial Director sees me responsible for directing the commercial operation as the company looks to grow both our product and client portfolio.
Realistic Games were founded in 2002, so the company has years and years of experience on their sleeve. What are the milestones the company is proud of?
There’s been many over the years! Our first moves in the industry were via third party platform providers and saw the release of half a dozen games between 2005 and 2009. Among our customers were gaming companies including Bet365, Ladbrokes, Bet Victor, Bet Fred, Stan James, and SportingBet. We also released FOBT content into the Cyberview platform for Ladbrokes and VLT for Sazka in the Czech Republic.
In 2008, we decided that providing content via third party providers wasn't good enough. Due to the dissemination of IP, cost, limited technical scope and distribution constraints we branched out on our own instead. As a result, our team of technology experts spent the next two years developing the Realistic Games RGI, or ReGaL for short.
Since then we’ve gone on to expand our games library including 3 and 5 reel slots, table games and our range of pull tab products. We’ve got further plans to evolve in the near future too.
Does the company mostly work for the UK market? Do you have plans on entering other regulated markets?
While the UK is our home and where we first started, we’ve since expanded across many regulated markets in Europe, including Romania, Denmark, Sweden, Croatia, Estonia and Latvia with other regulated markets to follow later this year.
What three games are the most popular in your library so far? What is so special about them for the players?
In terms of fan favourites, our most popular 3-reel game is Eighth Wonder, a simple, easy to understand game with a high volatility kick to it, whilst 6 Appeal and Super Graphics Upside Down are currently our most popular 5 reel games.
As our most popular launch to date, the latter is our flagship title that has spawned multiple sequels featuring the slot’s popular female host, Satsuki.
How many games does the company release per month or per year?
Our release schedule changes to suit the industry conditions and trends so we remain flexible in terms of numbers but we always insist on ensuring everything we do release is done with quality at its heart.
We make games for the players and to entertain them, so as long as players enjoy what we create, we will continue to deliver at a varying pace.
How long does it take to create one game, from idea to release?
This varies in the complexity of the game. We can produce a game that is a clone of an existing engine quite quickly but on the flip side of that a new concept from start to finish can take in excess of 18 months.
What is the biggest possible win in your games? Has anyone already hit the biggest win, and if yes, what game was it?
We have a game in the market called Super Graphics Game Changer that offers a 100,000x multiplier in the game. The top prize was won on just the second day of release by one lucky player!
Can you please tell us about Realistic Games’ plans for the future? Maybe any interesting releases we should expect?
Our latest release, Gorilla Riches, marks not only the introduction of variable RTP’s into the Realistic portfolio but is the first step forward in enhancing quality in gameplay and presentation. It’s a title that is heavy on detail with its atmospheric presentation and soundtrack.
We’ve got big content and commercial plans for the rest of the year and while we can’t talk too much about them at the moment we’ll be sure to announce them when the time is right, but look out for our game release at the end of July!
