Sports Betting
North Carolina allows retail and online sports betting to anyone who is 21 and older which is the legal gambling age in North Carolina for this activity.
Casinos
At the time of writing this post, there are three tribal casino houses in the state, two run by the Cherokee community and one run by the Catawba tribe. Access is permissible to individuals who are of the gambling age in NC which is 21 for casino gambling.
Online casinos are prohibited in the state.
Poker
Currently, there is only one casino in the state that has an authorized poker room for cash games and tournaments. The age of visitors must be at least 21. Online poker is prohibited.
Fantasy Sports
Daily fantasy sports are legally available to players who are 18 and older.
Lottery
There is an official North Carolina Education Lottery and it is the only lottery legally available in the state. To participate, one has to be 18 or older.
Bingo
Nonprofit organizations in the state can run bingo games and raffles. Players who are 16 (not younger) can play if accompanied by parents or guardians. Otherwise, the minimum allowed age for playing bingo is 18.
Another important rule is that bingo games cannot last longer than 5 hours. The only exception is if the bingo event is held at a fair.
Horse Racing
Both live horse racing bets and pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing are allowed to individuals of the minimum legal age for gambling in North Carolina. Today it is 18 years old.
