What is the Legal Gambling Age in KS
Sports Betting
In September of 2022, sports betting became legal in Kansas, both in-person and online. Anyone who is 18 or 21 years old (depends on the location and county) can make real-money bets on sports.
Casinos
In April 2023, not only tribal land-based casinos but also commercial casino facilities were permitted in the state. People who are 21 years old and older can enter and play games for real money.
Online casinos are still illegal though.
Poker
Together with land-based casinos, land-based live poker rooms became legal for players reaching the Kansas gambling age of 21 years old.
As for poker for real money online, it has not yet been identified as a game of chance or a game of skill, and as a result, the law still doesn’t know where to put it and whether to allow it. However, until online casinos are illegal, online poker is most likely on the illegal side, as well.
Fantasy Sports
Daily Fantasy Sports became legal in Kansas in 2015 and since then, anyone who is 18 years old is free to participate and bet with real money.
Lottery
There is a state-run lottery in Kansas that was established back in 1986. Today, it allows people of the age of 18, which is the gambling age in KS, to buy lottery tickets and win prizes. The lottery included Powerball and other games that are actually multistate. However, due to the availability of sports bets and casinos, the lottery is not very popular.
Bingo
Licensed charitable raffles and bingo are legal in Kansas. Players who are 18 and older can participate and win prizes. One doesn’t have to be registered in Kansas for this. Online bingo is not yet available though.
Horse Racing
Horse racing is possible in the state as an event, but making bets with real money officially is not allowed. Pari-mutuel betting was once possible, but currently, bets on track and off-track betting locations are unavailable to players even if they reach the gambling age in Kansas of 18 years old.
